The AiH proposal is an architectural attempt to meet the social needs of a new community of mentally disabled adults in the Co-op housing community of Hjortshøj. The project focus is: developing inclusive housing in its broadest terms. The project goal is to provide equality concerning orientation, social interaction, sense of security and functional flexibility. By creating small squares and meeting spots for common activities the project provides opportunity for unexpected encounter between the buildings . At the same time the buildingscheme supports an understanding and recognition of the private dwellings as individual and personal houses. All buildings are low energy buildings : energy class 1 = 50% lower than the danish building code.
